Why You're Losing Your Voice

Losing your voice is a serious issue for singers. There are many reasons you might be losing your voice.


Losing your voice is a serious issue for singers. There are many reasons you might be losing your voice. You may be sick, you may have laryngitis (which simply means an infection in your larynx).

Not all vocal loss is due to laryngitis. You may be exposed to dry air via air conditioning or dry heat, you may have acid reflux or allergies. There are also more serious issues that may cause you to lose your voice -- Rheumatoid arthritis, nervous system disorders, thyroid problems or malignancies.

This video is going to focus on the vocal loss that happens to singers after performing. If after you have performed you find that you are losing your voice, it’s an indication that your vocal technique is poor. We’ll talk about the 3 main culprits at play, why it causes vocal loss and the best course of action for dealing with it.
